myanmar
kurz nach meiner seidenstraßentour von köln nach singapur in 2011/12 wurden die grenzen myanmar’s für individuelle radreisende geöffnet. seitdem besteht mein wunsch, die damals noch nicht mögliche radreise nachzuholen, am liebsten natürlich mit astrid.
vier wochen ist die maximale laufzeit für tourismusvisa in myanmar, und mehr als fünf wochen urlaub konnte astrid ihrem arbeitgeber ohnehin nicht abringen. so fliegen wir also am 18. dezember 2017 nach yangon (früher rangun), um per velo und zum teil per bus und boot die schönheiten dieses so lange nahezu unzugänglichen und durch die verfolgung der muslimischen minderheit, den rohinghas, plötzlich in den focus der weltöffentlichkeit gelangten landes zu entdecken. im anschluss werden wir dann freunde in bangkok besuchen. hier unsere geplante route, rund 2.300 km lang:

four weeks is the maximum tourist visa validity period for myanmar while astrid’s employer wouldn’t have okayed more than an exceptional five weeks vacation anyway. hence we will fly into yangon (formerly rangoon) on december 18th, 2017 and travel by bicycle, partly also by bus and boat to discover the beauties of this mysterious country that had been unaccessible for a long time and came into the world’s focus only recently by the media coverage on the oppression and pursuit of the rohingyas, the muslim minority in maynamar’s north-west region. subsequently to this we will visit friends in bangkok. here’s our scheduled route of some 1,430 mi:

- 2 trekkingräder und packbeutel im stabilen karton-boxen
- 2 x je 4 fahrrad-packtaschen in praktischen ikea-taschen
- alle vorbereitungen abgeschlossen: post abgestellt, lebensmittelvorräte gegen null gefahren, wachdienst organisiert, zimmerpflanzen-versorgung sichergestellt – unser abenteuer kann beginnen!
- 2 trekking bikes and rack-packs in pretty sturdy cardboard boxes
- 2 x 4 panniers each in very practical ikea bags
- all preparations are done: mail services stopped, food stocks brought close to zero, surveillance service organized, indoor-plant maintenance ensured – the adventure can start!
